This cameraphone will really make you stand out in the crowd, with an amazing 12 megapixel camera for the very best in quality photos. But that is not the only innovative feature of the Sony Ericcson Satio, as this device runs on the brand new open source Symbian user interface, which is still being developed by the Symbian Foundation.
Other features include an impressive 3.5” touch screen display with 360 x 640 pixel resolution, GPS and WiFi connectivity and a smart, relatively compact design that makes this innovative phone pleasing on the eye as well.

Physically great phone let down by photo quality Review by Grainy Snapshot
Design Features Value Performance The Satio is a very impressive physical phone. Although all plastic, it feels very solid, has pleasing curves and the metallic details give it a classy finish. The lens cover is unique and because it is acitve (i.e. it activates the camera) the phone is a pleasure to use. It has a fast processor so the Symbian interface is very snappy. If you find the old Symbian UI a bit faded, you can spice it up with SPB's Mobile Shell which is as good as the HTC Sense UI for its design but even faster in operation. When you open the lens cover the shutter key is outlined in by a cool blue light so you can get the phone oriented for taking shots quickly.
Unfortunately all this goodness is let down by the final image quality. I have taken dozens of shots using this phone and taken the same shot using a HTC Touch Diamond 2, which is only 5MP and not touted as a camera phone the way the Satio is. The TD2 time and again produces shots with more pleasing colours and higher contrast. I have also taken shots using the Satio, the TD2 and a Nikon Coolpix P3 which is only 8MP but has far superior optics (since it is a proper camera). The TD2 is closer to the Nikon in final quality. The Satio suffers also from smearing when there is a bright source of light in the frame (e.g. car headlights) which neither the Nikon nor the TD2 get).
I really like the Satio for so many reasons but the image quality is deal breaker for me. I suspect it is a firmware issue but Sony Ericsson say they are not further developing the Satio firmware so that rules it out for me. (Posted on 25/07/10) -
Great Camera, Great Battery life Review by Lunga
Features Value Performance Design I've had this phone from Mobicity for 4mths now.
I've always been a Nokia person, and this is the phone to switch over to if you like the Nokia Symbian interface.
The camera is great and whilst there are complaints online in regards to its battery life, I've had no issues. It usually lasts 3-4 days and that's with an avg of 1hr of phone calls per day.
This is the NextG version and it works great even in the elevator. (Posted on 2/06/10)
