The Symbian platform is an open source mobile operating system designed for smartphones and maintained by the Symbian Foundation. The software platform is successor to Symbian OS and was officially made available as open source code in February 2010. The first Symbian device was the Nokia N8 which was released in 2010. The most recent smartphone to come with Symbian pre-installed is Nokia Asha 305 Dual SIM.
