NextG Compatible

You may not be aware but the majority of mobile phones are not compatible with the Telstra NextG network.

About 2% of the current range work fine but many are missing the vital 3G frequency running at the UMTS/WCDMA 850 band. This means that while they work ok for basic services like calls, SMS and GPRS more sophisticated functions such as mobile internet, GPS mapping, video calls, etc won't work. For some phones even basic services will be a struggle.

The NextG mobile phones below have been hand-selected by MobiCity to be compatible with the critical elements of the Telstra NextG network, although it is important to note that the majority are not Telstra-branded and may not have all the Bigpond shortcuts, etc.

If you are not sure whether you have a normal Telstra 2G SIM or a NextG one please check the logo on the back of the card. If it just says Telstra, then you have a 2G SIM and can use any phone.
