Performance

I've had the Backflip for a couple of months now. I have enjoyed using it, being my first Android phone. The switch from a normal phone was easy and at first the features blew me away. But now I am starting to realise what I'm missing out on. Here's my low down of the phone:

DESIGN AND FEATURES:
The keyboard is amazing. The way it folds out and provides such a large space is ingenious design and my thumbs love the feel of the big keys. There is nothing more I could ask for than this keyboard for a mobile device. Anyone texting a lot, and who may not like on screen keyboards, will love this phone. The invention of Backtrack is a nice feature. I don't actually find I need to use it that much, but when I do it's very handy. The 3 touch sensitive buttons along the bottom are very nice looking but can get annoying when holding the phone in a fist and accidentally pressing a button. But this isn't a very big problem.

VALUE:
I use this phone on a plan so I'm not sure how the value for money goes. But comparing prices on here I'd go with a different phone for the money. The amazing design possibly doesn't outweigh the small power it has compared to newer Android phones.

PERFORMANCE:
Since the phone currently only has Android OS 1.5 it's rather disappointing. I would be ecstatic to see 2.1 released. Motorola hasn't confirmed or denied an OS update in the Pacific region yet, so fingers crossed. At the moment the phone doesn't run as smoothly as I would like. Changing home screens and scrolling gets choppy, and some apps are much better suited to a higher performance phone.

Basically, give me 2.1 or higher on this phone and you won't receive much higher praise. (Posted on 31/08/10)
