Great WinMo smartphone Review by Ian
Features Value Performance Design It is superfast for WinMo and very easy to use. The only hitch is with the keyboard - takes a bit getting used to. Well done HTC. This is a classy superb effort. (Posted on 4/08/10)

Wonderful Review by GMH
Features Value Performance Design I've had my phone about 4 months now and I'm still loving this phone!
I was (and still am) so sick of the iphone... the most over-rated phone on the market... (but I do commend them on their marketing... it's only because of the brilliant marketing that the iphone became so popular so quickly). This phone sure kills the iphone hands down. Everything has worked flawlessly on my HTC.
I do agree with skarloey about virgin mobile... but that is not a fault of HTC.
Once I sorted the problem, internet was a breeze.
I had never heard of HTC before this, so I'm happy I found this one.
More and more apps are being added, so it won't be long before they will truely be competing in ALL aspects with apple.
Well done HTC! (Posted on 14/07/10) -
Dissapointed Review by mxwhisper
Design Features Value Performance Sorry to disagree with most reviews here.
I found this phone to be a great disappointment.
I like the handset design, screen real estate, clarity.
I came from an iphone before this phone and was hoping for bigger and better performance. Mine is sometimes laggy, definitely freezes too much. It has a bug when ever you add an alert to emails it will alert then freeze!!
I did not find it user friendly although HTC has done a good job to mask the dreaded Win mobile. Sometimes I wonder why they bother, why just dump it!
Overall, for me at least, not up to par. Looking for another handset. (Posted on 7/06/10) -
A Disgrace - continual freezes Review by svk
Features Value Performance Design This phone comes up short, sometimes due to the platform and others because of HTC.
My three biggest gripes:
- the phone freezes. Sometimes answering, othertimes when moving between apps, even just trying to unlock. Having to remove/replace battery is a joke.
- The music player doesn't always run through the playlist (the HTC player itself leaves much to be desired too)
- can't control rotation the way the APPLICATIONS need to be
But seriously, paying this amount for a phone that freezes out of the box is a disgrace. It inhibits the enjoyment of waht could have been a great device. (Posted on 27/04/10) -

Excellent Phone - Great Retailer + Fast shipping Review by Sparrow
Design Features Value Performance I got this phone earlier this week, and I have to agree with all the people above me, absolutely fantastic phone - quick, customizable, very capable, very stylish and suprisingly light! My main concern with the HD2 was the size, coming from a chunky yet small N95, although once I got it in my hands it felt great, and the size while slightly larger than the iPhone feels comfortable and performs amazingly.
Watching youtube on this thing is truely an awesome experience - how far technology has come.
Highly recommended, excellent traveling device aswell.
Mobicity - excellent customer service, very quick delivery, ALTHOUGH - PLEASE NOTE, THIS DEVICE INCLUDES AN 8GIG SD CARD IN THE BOX. (Posted on 8/01/10) -
Extremly Amazed Review by Re@lity
Value Performance Design Features I can only say I'm extremly amazed with the HD2, I bought it a week ago, and I unpacked it and I put my simcard in ...and everything configured itself ....awesome ...the touch screen feels very very smooth, and what I extremly like in your contacts you can associate your contacts with Facebook and you can also allocate a ringtone for a certain person ...I had before a Samsung Omnia II ....and compared the HD2 to the Omnia. The Omnia doesn't look goo anymore compared to the HD2. What I also really like about the HD2 is the HTC Sense interface ...looks very nice ....and the weather updates they are just cool and also everything is very finger friendly ...and you can tweak so much on the Windows Mobile Operating System ...it's just amazing ...very satisfied with this phone ...and also it KILLS iPhone 3GS very easy, the iPhone is no good anymore compared to the HD2 .... One of the best phones in the market Review by skarloey
Design Features Value Performance I have had this phone for about 2 weeks now. I can say this with confidence that its one of the best phones ever. I have shifted from the SE Xperia X1..so essentially still from a WM phone. This is a huge improvement.
Design: The phone fit comfortably in my relatively small hands, which was a pleasant surprise. Most of the time I was able to operate it one-handed. Typing long messages and emails however, needed 2-hand operation. The screen is beautiful, and touch responsiveness is as good as you would expect from a capacitative touch screen. I have compared it with the iphone and have found no differences. The very few buttons are easily accessible. The stylus and D-pad are not missed at all, thanks to the WM6.5 reworked with HTC Sense.
Features: HTC have almost completely reworked the original OS and have added a fair bit of their apps, which are very handy and useful. The input method is essentially through the on screen keyboard which is responsive and quite accurate. For some, (as for me), it might take a few days to get used to the feel. People who have used the iphone tried my keyboard and actually found it quite good. After the initial few days' use, I do not miss the hardware keyboard of the Xperia X1
The only complaints I have are:
1.Whilst I like the accelerometer/ G-sensor, I would have liked some way of manual screen rotation, and there are times you would not want the G sensor to kick in. There is no way of disabling it. There are third party hacks available for this though.
2. On the VirginMobile network, I had problems getting the internet and sms to work initially, virginmobile were most unhelpful, they dont even have a settings webpage for windows mobile! I got my answers from various fora. once working the performance has been flawless. The sms worked after a few resets. I still feel that something as basic as sms should work right out of box. 3. Closing an application needs navigation to the task manager, which is bit of a pain. However, the open apps do not seem to affect performance given the excellent hardware. Again, there are third party hacks available (which do not always work)
Google Maps/GPS/Digital compass work flawlessly. Additional features of Wireless router (for internet sharing); Youtube app; facebook etc are fantastic. Reading ebooks on this big clear screen is a treat
Value: Given the fact that this is one of the most powerful phones on the market, with near flawless peroformance and beautiful features, I think a cost of 969 AUD is good value for money. I am sure the cost will come down further once networks adopt the phone and release plans for it. Now..if HTC could just give us all a free upgrade to WM7....
Performance: The 1 GHz processor and chipset really shows..There is virtually no lag in applications opening up. Video performance is excellent and fun on the big screen.
Even heavy files open in a snap. Rarely do you see the windows rotating wheel (or colored dots in 6.5), and even if you do, its very brief. Phone performance is impeccable other than the initial problems with sms that I had..could be the phone.. could be the network..who knows.
Curiously...and Doctors/Nurses/Paramedics should note..Uptodate does not install correctly The application itself installs, but not the images and tables..Still working with tech support at Uptodate..hopefully this is not such a big issue. Other programs including skyscape ones are fine..
Thats a long writeup..if you are still with me, you obviously are interested..sooo go ahead and buy one....you won't regret it. Happy shopping!

Easily the best Windows phone currently out there on the market! Review by Matthew Kopelke
Value Performance Design Features This is easily the best Windows phone currently out there on the market. From a hardware perspective, this beats the iPhone hands down. A lovely big screen, slim form factor, great build quality. This is the phone to make people's heads turn, as I've gotten nothing but "wow"-like comments from all of my friends!
As far as the software goes, OK, so it's still Windows Mobile 6.5 under the hood. While the HTC Sense does make up somewhat for the shortcomings of WM6.5, the phone right now seems to have a few issues with lag and bugs (especially around the Contacts and Messaging apps). While this could be a problem for some, the silver lining here is that HTC are well known for issuing hot fixes for their phones, so the chances of these "early adopter" bugs being ironed out are quite high.
So don't avoid this phone because it has some software bugs right now. This is the phone to get if you are a WM fanboi, and love gorgeous hardware. HTC will keep patching the phone, so it is sure to keep getting better and better. Even cooler is the rumour that this phone qualifies for a WM7 upgrade next year, which makes it very future-proof (something you'd want at this price!).
So, in summary, the best Windows phone I've owned (it's the third one I've owned, FWIW), and I am very pleased with my purchase. You won't be disappointed! (Posted on 11/12/09) -
