  1. great phone but... Review by chris

This phone has all the features of an iPhone4 plus more, better yet no restrictions. BUT the battery life sucks. OMG I can flatten a fully charged phone in just 2 hours. Turn GPS, WI-FI, 3G data, Bluetooth, don't make calls and turn the screen off, (yeah i know, defeats the purpose of having a smart phone by doing this) the battery will last 3 & 1/2 days. if you can live with turning these features on and off when you need them you can stretch the battery to 10hrs. so factor into the price the cost of 2nd, 3rd, 4th chargers for home, work all your cars your bedroom. Dont get caught without a charger, youll have a lump of plastic glass and metal in your hand. Other than this fantastic phone. (Posted on 23/09/11)

Well, i don't do many reviews, but this phone is a beauty. Its hot, sleek and robust body. Actually feels like a phone in the hand and not some plastic box like many samsung phones. Camera is fantastic and that flash, wow, the best on any phone, ever! Android on it is awesome, and now it has 2.3.3, the latest version. All its lacking is HTC Sense 3.0, but thats HTC's fault.
The best decision i have made, its 7 months old, but still probably the third fastest phone on the market after the samsung galaxy s II and the lg optimus 2x. only phone that i would get to replace this is the sensation, but probably wont replace for another year. (Posted on 22/06/11)

I have this for two days now and I'm still hooked up. The settings and customization is what I enjoy most because it embeds my personality on my phone. Already downloaded some apps.

As for the battery, with great power lies great responsibility. If you are not using bluetooth, or wifi or gps then turn it off. Add them as a widget on the home screen and you have instant access with these settings. Saves you a lot of battery life.

I've been using iphone 4 from my company and this phone really outclassed the iphone in most aspects. (Posted on 16/04/11)

My first smartphone and fat fingers aside, impressed. So much to remember 220 plus pages of phonese. Particularly when some functions are not working that are service provider and not phone related.

Interesting about Vodafone above. I purchased unlocked from Mobicity and purchased a data pack to go with my old vodafone account. Had assumed that the data services would be turned on soon after purchase. Spent several hours over several days trying to get the data connection working and travelled well away from the VF shop so no easy check there. Mobicity helped pointing me in the right direction even though it didnt work. Bit the bullet and ended up speaking to a very quiet but eventually helpful Indian woman. They had not enabled my data service. While I disconnected from the help desk in frustration following the instructions and no apparent success about 5 mins after the data services finally popped up.

Have noted that there are people concerned about not having second camera could they not use the speakerphone function since a second camera would require the use of that anyway unless you wanted to show all the forehead zits!

While a fan of Opera their use of a proxy for Mobile means HTTPS for online banking is not available since the end to end encryption is broken. Still working on the Online banking bit

Now looking for suitable apps for additional functions I need (Posted on 26/03/11)

purchased the HTC Desire as couldn't get info on iPhone4 from Telstra sales team when trying compare the two phones. Or anywhere else for that matter.
I work contantly in a wireless office, which seems to cause signal drop when in the office. Go outside and it's fine. Bit pointless when discussing / talking through products with clients.

    Excellent features and very fast.

The low performance rating is due to call drop-outs. Apart from that, love the phone. (Posted on 10/02/11)

HTC Desire HD is simply astonishing and its not quietly brilliant infact its loudly and clearly brilliant. Just 2 things - Better Battery and front facing Camera to make it the perfect phone. Just bought it yesterday and already loving it. I went to upgrade my iphone 3gs with iphone 4 and now i can say iphone is history (Appleeeee Do something).
touchscreen interface is very good. (Posted on 5/02/11)

This would have to be 1 of the best smart I have ever owned. Out of the box it has everything the iPhone 4 have had and more. I have all the iphone models and this htc desire hd wins hands down.
    2 points worth mentioning.

    1. Turn off all sync data that you don't need, uninstall all unused apps. Doing these things will dramatically increase your battery time. Also the battery gets better after 4 to 5 complete discharge/ charge cycles.

    2. No next G on this A9191 model. But it is coming on the A 9192 model . ( can't wait for that). (Posted on 2/02/11)

When I first received it in the mail I though 'woah, its big' (I had a lot of concerns, I also order one for my fiance who has small hands) but for us both, after using it for the last 2 weeks I would not want anything smaller. Most smartphones now look like little toys...This is the perfect sized phone for anyone. (Posted on 23/11/10)

Have been using for a week and a half. It is a mini computer. Great features. Very flexible. Very responsive. Looks great. Easy to use with all the wizards. Social integration and push email calendar is great. Very accurate input. The only problem is the poor battery life, and it's tendency to drop calls when switching between 3g and edge data (fixed the second prob is by turning off data roaming). (Posted on 13/11/10)

Without a doubt an awesome phone..

Pros: Android, No Lagg! (unless you enable live wallpaper, background data, all the other fancy features and try download 10 apps at once then yeah there is, but still, only just a bit), beautiful clear screen, easy to use, wi-fi hotspot, flawless social media/contact integration, smooth xvid/divx playback (using app), buttons work when you press them, no looking at your phone going “c’mon!! i did press it didn’t i?”… etc etc I can go on and on

Cons: 1 thing – Battery Life – but hey isn’t that usually always the case? Have the usb cable handy if you’re going to be using it constantly, especially with wi-fi hotspot… yeah baby eat that battery life!

Overall: I haven’t upgraded my phone for four years because mobiles that came out simply didn’t cut it for me… until now. Bye old school SE p990i (still love the hardware keypad tho)

    =)

Got the phone about a week ago and i must say.....its brilliant! Everything anyone could want in a smart phone. Intially i was worried about the size, but after using it for a week, when i use people's iphones and htc desires...they feel too small :-).
If i had to critisise it i would say that the speakers could be a bit louder, but other than that, very happy with purchase and very happy with the service from Mobicity. My brother in law had a go with my phone on the weekend and now he has placed an order for one. (Posted on 8/11/10)

I've been waiting 3 years for the perfect smart phone, nothing to date has ticked as many boxes as the Desire HD. To think I almost bought a Sony Erricsson X10 about 5 weeks ago scares me. This phone puts iphone 4 to shame in so many ways Steve Jobs will be tasting the defeat for many years to come, HTC and Google Android are taking the pole position, move over Jobsy-boy. if only it were cheaper... but then it is cheaper than iphone 4 and better in 80% of it specs
1- it doesnt run safari (safari is horrible)

2- it can use java through thrid party apps

3- FLASH!!! IT HAS FLASH!!! i can now access my lecture material through the flash applications

4- 8mp camera, better than most phones, but not excessive

5- who needs video call... to another iphone only... in a wifi zone... with a secondary camera...

6- android phones are by default awesome, apple ios 4 fails... but battery life is a concern, 9 hrs talk compared to the iphone 14. best turn off some auto updates like the android's face time and auto update emails.

7- HTC sense is smart, fun, full of surprises

8- google based applications like streetview, gotta love street view

9- android os means u dont have to exit an app to access messages recieved.

10- best thing about it is, it doesnt drop out of a call if u wear silk underwear or hold it in a certain way in a particular hand (Posted on 28/10/10)
